2011 Groton Holiday Lights Parade and Tree Lighting with Santa - Holiday fun in Groton
The 2011 Holiday Lights Parade took place on December 3rd.
Marching bands kept time as beautifully lit floats and groups on foot moved along Route 1 to the Groton Shopping Plaza. Local high schools, fife and drum corps, and neighboring fire departments were all represented. Local businesses decorated their cars, trucks and floats with festive holiday lighting.
Our 2011 participants were judged in four categories and the following won the awards:

Best Children's Entry Cub Scout Pack 41
Immediately after the parade, Santa Claus lit the holiday tree on the green at the Groton Shopping Plaza. Steve Elci and Friends were there with their own special educational kid’s rock 'n' roll show that got everyone out of their seats. Caroling, pictures with Santa, and gifts for the children rounded out the fun of our post-parade Party.
Each year the GBA welcomes floats from businesses, clubs, and organizations and marchers from the community. A call goes out to bands and choral groups who make that special holiday music that everyone knows and loves.
