The Groton Business Association organized the first Groton Festival in 2006. It was born from an idea to create a community-wide event that would attract artists, crafters and businesses and nonprofit organizations to display their wares and information at Poquonnock Plains Park in Groton. Since its inception, the Fall Festival has grown dramatically. We now have over 110 vendors participating and thousands of people from the local area (and some from the not-so-local area) attend.
Saturday, the entire festival site will become a circus of entertainment. Featured will be the Life Star Helicopter in the center ring. Children’s entertainer, Steve Elci and Kidsploration will occupy a ring of listening pleasure in the area of the children’s playground.
Groton’s Fire Departments will celebrate Fire Prevention Week 2013 with special displays, exhibits, and vehicles. The festival will offer a variety of entertainment. Featured will be children’s entertainer Steve Elci and Kidsploration, guitarist Lou Manzi, April’s Balloons and Simply Enchanted. Gabriele’s Martial Arts will hold a demonstration.
The GBA would like to recognize the companies who have committed to be a sponsor for this year’s event. They are Groton Utilities, Groton Parks and Recreation Department, Cumulus Media – Q105, Chelsea Groton Bank, Liberty Bank, the Savings Institute, Country Glen & Lighthouse Shopping Center, Comcast, the Groton Shopping Plaza, and Thames Valley Communications.
Net proceeds from the festival will be used to support GBA events, including Groton’s Annual Holiday Lights Parade in December and projects throughout the year.
A Special Thanks to all our 2013 GBA Sponsors!
