The Town of Groton, located in New London County, is one of Southeastern Connecticut's more urban towns and has a population of just under 40,000. Groton is part of Connecticut's Second Congressional District.
Not to be confused with the Town of Groton itself, City of Groton is an incorporated subdivision of the Town with its own government. City of Groton is about three miles square in area and offers a full range of municipal services and public utilities to it's population of around 10,000.
Groton's State House Districts are 40 and 41, and its State Senate District is 12.
