Events & Celebrations

In order to foster a sense of community and to provide Groton residents with family-oriented activities, the Groton Business Association, with the help of our sponsors, hosts town-wide events throughout the year. Our two biggest events are the Fall Festival and the Holiday Lights Parade.

The Groton Fall Festival is an annual event on the Saturday of Columbus day weekend at Poquonnock Plains Park with satellite events in nearby locations. This day long festival is a family oriented event featuring attractions for all ages. Festive booths are filled with local businesses, arts & crafters and non-profit organizations providing information to the community and selling their wares. Thousands of people from the local area (and some from the not-so-local area) attend.

The Holiday Lights Parade takes place annually on a Saturday early in December. Area businesses, clubs, and organizations decorate floats with holiday lights and parade down Route 1 accompanied by marching bands and choral and dance groups. Marchers proceed to the Groton Shopping Plaza where Santa lights the Holiday Tree followed by post-parade caroling and pictures with Santa. The Holiday Parade is an amazing sight not to be missed!

All Groton Business Association Events are organized in conjunction with Town of Groton, City of Groton, Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce and our Sponsors. We couldn't do it without their generous cooperation and support.

In addition to hosting these and other events, the GBA gives its support to other local events such as the Sailfest Fireworks in Groton each July.
