Public Information Session- Jerry Brown Road

Thursday, August 6 2009 7:30 pm

Admission: FREE
Location: Mystic Firehouse, 34 Broadway Avenue Mystic

Stonington’s Economic Development Commission will hold a public information session on Thursday, August 6th at 7:30 pm at the Mystic Firehouse, 34 Broadway, to discuss the economic impact of Mystic-based Lattizori Enterprises’ new proposal to develop a mixed-use development on 70 acres abutting I-95 on Jerry Brown Road in Stonington.

Lattizori Enterprises has a zoning application pending before Stonington’s Planning and Zoning Commission seeking to establish a transitional zone permitting open-aired, upscale, retail shops with an accompanying hotel and town homes, while preserving 50% of the property as open space. Lattizori’s new master plan, shown above, has addressed public concerns by incorporating uninterrupted open space contiguous with land owned by the Avalonia Land Trust, featuring connecting walking trails and public spaces.
The public information session will feature a presentation by Bartram & Cochran, a national economic development consultant hired by Lattizori Enterprises, who will present its economic study demonstrating that the zone, if approved, could generate over 500 permanent jobs and over $500,000 per year in property tax revenues for the Town.
The Economic Development Commission noted that the site is one of the Town’s last large undeveloped sites abutting existing commercial activity along Route 95 and has the potential to bring significant economic benefits to the Town. The Commission encourages citizens interested in leaning about the economic impact of the project to attend Thursday’s information session.
